Guests consistently praise Ockenden Manor's relaxing atmosphere and beautiful surroundings, particularly enjoying the modern spa facilities with its saunas and whirlpools. The fine dining in the Manor House Restaurant, with its views across the stunning garden, is frequently mentioned as a highlight, along with spacious and beautifully decorated rooms. Some guests have noted that rooms like 'Timothy', while full of character, might pose a challenge for very tall people, but overall the hotel is considered a secret gem, with convenient access to nearby parks.

the spa looked less polished than i anticipated. i noticed several cups and stray hairs scattered around the pool area. the exterior walk from the spa to the main hotel was not appealing, i passed rusty equipment and building materials.

Good stay at a beautiful hotel

comfortable bedoffice locationmassage availability
I booked a last minute getaway. I stayed in the cosy room called Timothy. It is located above the office at the front of the building. The bed was gloriously quirky and very comfortable. I noticed a sign at the desk notified guests that there were spaces available for a massage the next day so I booked it.
Service
9/10
Staff members are always available to assist with luggage. The spa staff are attentive, always checking to see if sufficient pressure is applied during treatments. The sauna and steam areas are super clean.
Rooms
8/10
The room featured views over the gardens and comfortable bedding. The bathroom offered a large bathtub and plenty of amenities. Water, juice, and snacks are provided in the fridge.
Dining
9/10
Breakfast included fresh coffee alongside fresh fruit and pastries. The cooked breakfast had tasty items alongside a well-stocked buffet. I took a walk around the gardens after my meal.

an okay stay

The spa facilities were acceptable. The outdoor pool was open. i guess that's something.
My 'feature room' wasn't exactly awe-inspiring. it looked like it hadn't been updated since queen victoria's time. breakfast service was a joke. I waited an eternity for lukewarm coffee.

Satisfactory Experience

good spaoutdoor pooldusty roomdated room
The spa was good. It was a big bonus that we could use it from 2pm on arrival day until 2pm on check out day. the design layout of the spa was lovely. It had lots of nice touches that are often forgotten. the outdoor pool and hot tub were fantastic because we booked sunshine too.
I stayed with my 7 year old & 13 year old. the room was very underwhelming. We were on the top floor, split over 2 rooms. both rooms were dusty, dark & dated. we felt we were being a hindrance & shouldn't really be there.
